Question:

Salam is it ok for a pregnant women to take the whooping caugh vaccine and any other vaccine during and after pregnancy ? Also in general should we abstain from these vaccines or not as sometimes we read and hear they are very harmful and have many side effects. Answer: ﺑﺴﻢ اﷲ اﻟﺮﺣﻤﻦ اﻟﺮﺣﯿﻢ In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Generally speaking, it is permissible to take vaccines, or any other medication, on the condition that they do not contain any unlawful ingredients. However, if they do contain unlawful ingredients, then it would be permissible to take such vaccines subject to the following conditions: 1) He knows that there is cure in the vaccine. 2) There is no alternative which contains halal (permissible) ingredients. 3) A pious Muslim doctor informs him that there is cure in the vaccine.1 Only Allah knows best Written by Maulana Mohammad Ahsan Osmani Checked and approved by Mufti Mohammed Tosir Miah Darul Ifta Birmingham
