Question:
If a masbooq (late comer) finishes the tashahud (in the last rakat of the Imam) before the Imam makes salam, can the masbooq read durood and make dua or he should remain silent?
Answer:
ﺑﺴﻢ اﷲ اﻟﺮﺣﻤﻦ اﻟﺮﺣﯿﻢ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
It is best that the masbooq reads the tashahud slowly so that he finishes at the time the Imam makes salam. If he happens to finish early, then he has the choice to remain silent, read the Kalimatul Shahadah اﺷﻬﺪ و اﷲ اﻻ اﻟﻪ اﻻ اﺷﻬﺪ رﺳﻮﻟﻪ و ﻋﺒﺪه ﻣﺤﻤﺪا ان, or repeat the tashahud from the beginning. However, he will not recite durood nor make dua.1 Only Allah knows best Written by Maulana Mohammad Ahsan Osmani Checked and approved by Mufti Mohammed Tosir Miah Darul Ifta Birmingham
