Naming

Question:

Please can you tell me the meaning of the name Manha. Is it suitable/correct name for a girl? I've searched online and I get different meanings. Please can you confirm the correct meaning and whether it's okay to keep this name for a girl? Jazak-Allah

Answer: In the name of Allah, the most Gracious and the most Merciful,

Manha منحى is an Arabic word which means direction, path, road, way of life. The correct pronunciation is (MUN)ch + (HA)rd. It is not a Quranic word directly or indirectly, but since the meaning is good it is an acceptable name.

The word Minha منحة means gift, both are acceptable names. And Allah knows best Mufti Umer Farooq Saleem
