Question: When they say one day or one night in jinaayaat, does it means 12 hrs? بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Yes, when one day or one night is mentioned, it refers to its amount, i.e. 12 hours. For example, if a person covered their face for less than a day or night (i.e. less than 12 hours), then it would be necessary to give the amount equal to sadaqatul fitr (1.75 kg of wheat or its value) to those who are eligible to receive zakat.
