Question:

Is shaving the beard a major or a minor sin? Answer: ﺑﺴﻢ اﷲ اﻟﺮﺣﻤﻦ اﻟﺮﺣﯿﻢ In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

”أَ ْﺣُﻔﻮا اﻟ ﱠﺸﻮا ِر َب وأَ ْﻋُﻔﻮا اﻟﻠّﺤﻰ“. said: (s.a.w.) Prophet The

Translation: “Trim the mustaches and let the beards grow.” (Sahih Muslim: Hadith 259)

It is necessary to keep a fist-length beard. Shaving and trimming less than a fist-length is strictly prohibited. As for shaving one’s beard, it is a major sin (Darhi Ka Shari Hukm: p. 166 [Idara-e-Ghufran]).
