Assalam u Alaikum wa rahmat ullah.
I wanted to know if it is permissible to work as a software engineer for a company which has a 3D texturing software and a 3D library of natural objects, like, trees, flowers, mountains, houses, etc. The job is to develop their web portal backend services which are used search and buy the 3D images and their software product. Their software and 3D assets are for general use for any kind of presentable stuff but most of their customers are gaming companies as they use their 3D texturing software to create game backgrounds like trees, mountains, water, etc. Also they buy their pre-made 3D assets. They don't specify who would consume it but most of their customers are gaming companies. I want to know if it is permissible to work for such organization.

Wa Alaykum Assalam,
It is permissible to work as a software engineer for such a company. The product is for general use though most of the customers are gaming companies. This is the reason why being a software engineer for such a company will not be considered “assisting in sin”. For something to be considered as “assisting in sin” it should be directly related to the sin. In this case the images and designs are for general use and not specific for a gaming company.
