IT service for pub

Question

I have a possible opportunity to do some IT Support for a PUB. I need to ask you if it's allowed for me to provide them with IT Services or not as their income is basically alcohol and haraam.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If the services you would provide to the pub would not entail direct assistance in sin, then it would be permissible for you to accept this job. However, if this job would require you to assist someone in committing a sin, e.g., facilitating the sale of alcohol, advertising alcohol, etc., it would be prohibited. If you are still uncertain regarding the job, kindly send us details of the responsibilities because IT services vary. Allah تعالى says:

وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ

Translation: And do not assist one another in sin and aggression. (Surah Maidah: verse 2)
