If a person has a necklace of Ayatul Kursi do they need wudu to wear it ?

Question:

If a person has a necklace of Ayatul Kursi do they need wudu to wear it ? Does it matter if there is skin to skin contact or not? Answer: ﺑﺴﻢ اﷲ اﻟﺮﺣﻤﻦ اﻟﺮﺣﯿﻢ In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Keep in mind that it is impermissible for men to wear necklaces (Raddul Muhtar: v. 9, p. 516 [Maktaba Imdadia]) because it constitutes resembling women. It is mentioned in a hadith that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) cursed those men who imitated women and those women who imitated men. (Bukhari: Hadith 5885) With regard to touching the necklace, on account of Ayatul Kursi being part of the Quran, one should refrain from touching (whether with one’s skin or something that is attached to the body, e.g. a glove or shirt) the WRITING of Ayatul Kursi when not in the state of wudu. If a person touches any other portion of the necklace that does not contain the inscription of the Quran, it would be permissible. (Raddul Muhtar: v. 1, p. 315-316 [Maktaba Imdadia]) Only Allah knows best Written by Maulana Mohammad Ahsan Osmani Checked and approved by Mufti Mohammed Tosir Miah
