Question
Is the above advisory or necessary upon the husband? Some husbands don't give weekly pocket money but fulfill all basic living needs and will buy for the wife when she asks for something. I appreciate there's no blanket answer but generally how much pocket money should a person give. So for instance, if a person earned £100 a week what percentage should be given. Like in Zakat it would be 2.5%, what about in this case?

In brief, the wife is entitled to three basic needs: food, clothing, and shelter. (Raddul Muhtar: v. 5, p. 278 [Maktaba Imdadia])
As for the above-mentioned passage you shared, it is recommended to give one’s wife extra spending money and not obligatory. However, if a person gives, they will be rewarded for it.
